Edit.
Create an app for EDIT teachers based on their needs.
Goals of the exercise:
— Build on the existing EDIT brand.
— Empathize with the personas (needs, ambitions, frustrations, etc.), map their experience through customer journeys, and design the future experience.
— Design features for various processes based on the EDIT brand
— Conduct validation tests with users and iterate the solution based on feedback, then present that output;
After conducting research, interviews, and surveys with teachers (mostly from Edit school), we gained insights into their daily routines, the number of apps they use, their struggles with day-to-day tasks, and other pain points. With this information, we created a platform where teachers can interact, teach, organize information, and share content with others.
Home Page – A customizable homepage where teachers can prioritize what’s most important to them (e.g., check-in, schedule, upcoming classes, etc.).
Class Page – Teachers can check in, access remote classrooms, view attendees, and upload class materials (which students can access). They can also view and add materials for future classes, see what other teachers in the same course have uploaded, and ensure their content aligns with the overall syllabus. Additionally, teachers can write summaries and note key moments from the class (such as links, quotes, books, etc.).
Profile Page – Each user has a profile page. Teachers have a private section where they can track teaching hours, their activity (check-ins), and view their monthly payments.
Calendar – Teachers can organize their schedules with a calendar that consolidates all classes and meetings. It can also be synced with Google Calendar or iCalendar.
Archive – Teachers can store class content in an archive, which serves as a resource for new and current teachers to build their materials.
Chat – The chat is organized into different channels and direct messages. Teachers have access to class-specific channels, teacher-only channels, and school-wide channels.
